Dead Goat

Sony offers goat sacrifice to 'God of War'

Many believe violent video games are unhealthy for kids. Last month, Sony proved it: a decapitated goat was the centerpiece of a party the company threw in Greece to promote the PlayStation 2 title God of War II.

The theatrical dramatization, which according to reports, also featured topless women feeding grapes to partygoers, was supposed to be in keeping with the video game's Greek mythology theme. But according to media reports from Europe, animal rights groups were outraged and video game critics said the scene was symbolic of the industry's blood lust.

Sony issued a press release apologizing and also denied some reports that party guests were invited to dine on offal removed from the goat's stomach.
Source: Cnet

PS3 Scalpers

PS3 sellers keep low eBay profile
Sony’s success in getting plenty of PlayStation 3 consoles ready for European launch seems to have nipped any potential online auction bloodbath in the bud.

Spong reports that the number of PS3 pre-orders up on eBay is currently just 223, and that not a single console is going for more than its retail price of GBP425. The majority of them, which have around nine hours left until the end of auction, are reaching GBP350 or below.

Spong stated: “It will be interesting to see what occurs post the official midnight launch. The situation in the US and Japan last year saw US eBay flooded with upwards of 5,000 PS3s within hours of launch. Thanks to stock shortages the console was selling for around USD2,500, or four times the retail price.

Source: MCV

The Wall Street Journal reports that the physical nature of the Wii control system is giving people a work out they didn't expect.

A 12-year-old American girl said that playing on the Wii is "harder than playing basketball," and customs broker Ryan Mercer, who happens to lift weights says: "I was soaking wet with sweat, head to toe - I had to go take a shower." He also noted that the following day he had trouble putting his shirt on.

Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan appears to have no sympathy for aching gamers though, stating that "if people are finding themselves sore, they may need to exercise more."

Source: Pro-G
